Adapted from Alice Feeney’s novel of the same name, it’s a story of husband and wife who are caught up in a murder investigation. Here’s the husband- Jack Harper represents the local law enforcement of Dahlonega whereas the wife- Anna is finding her way back into television media.
We soon learn that Anna had taken a long timeout from her family, relationships and even her erstwhile home to recover from the sudden loss of her child. She is estranged from her old habitat but not aloof. So, it’s not surprising that she is interested in reporting on the murder of her erstwhile friend. But it’s more intriguing to know why Jack is keen on investigating as he has more than vested interest in the case.
As the series proceeds, the layers of submerged history get peeled off till the ugly nasty truth emerges. It’s so horrid and nasty that it shocks you to the core. Of course, superb screenplay, smooth direction and acting skills of the lead pair elevates the viewing experience. Literally, you keep guessing the big final reveal and it shocks you in quite an emotional way. Remember to hold on till the very end for that absolute twist- a superlatively chef’s kiss.
Absolutely a must-watch for viewers who appreciate good story telling. If you have read the original novel, this adaptation doesn’t take anything away from it; rather it adds another perspective with its fantastic execution. Happy binging!!!
