Based on the famous novel of the same name by Harlan Coben, Stay Close is essentially a high-octane crime drama. Like his previous novels, Coben successfully weaves an interesting story within a tight setting of some solidly carved out characters.

This series kicks off with the wedding preparations for a suburban couple called Megan and Dave. Although they have been together for last 16 years or so, the topic of marriage has been put off more or less. After spending such a significant time with each other and having three children together, they finally decide to solemnise their union. Almost at the same time, the seams of their relationship starts coming off.

The reason for such shifting of emotions is hiding in Megan’s past and what she has left behind. As more and more events as well as people from her past come knocking to her current life, she seems to loose grips on her perfectly put together existence. There is Lorraine who makes a dramatic re entry in Megan’s life and then there is Ray Levine who has not gotten over his feelings for her.

Coinciding with all these drama are some real unsolved crime cases. It’s been noticed by DS Michael Broome and his colleague DC Erin Cartwright that numerous men have gone missing since the disappearance of Megan’s past life over 17 years ago including someone who was really pestering her and somehow all these cases seem linked.

It’s quite compelling to watch all this intricate drama unravelling on the screen. The screenplay is quite impressive by keeping the viewers attention glued till the very end when all the dots start to connect each other. The cliffhanger ending is simply superb and keeps us guessing about what will Megan do. It’s indeed a clever trick to finish the series on the emotional conundrum faced by Megan just like at the beginning of the series.

If you are looking for a gripping crime drama full of emotional roller coaster with well chalked out characters then this series definitely fits the bill.
