The Chateau | Avery Bishop

A newly wed woman meets a mysterious stranger during her minimoon. Surprisingly nobody but she has come across this enigmatic woman who is supposed to be a resident in the same hotel as she and husband are planning to spend their short vacation. Almost everybody denies knowing her or refuses her existence. So much so that our protagonist i.e. the said newlywed woman called Nina starts doubting herself.

Nina and Michael Carr are worn-out from all the wedding festivities but happy to be together at last. They are spending their minimoon in the exclusive resort called The Chateau in the Catskill Mountains. As can be expected from its location and upscale hospitality, it’s the best place to be with your loved one for spending couple of days away from the busy city life.

But things start going south no sooner than Nina crosses path with that strange woman. She gets engulfed in one controversy after another, only to find herself embroiled in a murder investigation. As the investigation starts to unravel so does Nina’s story.

Once Nina starts getting more entangled in the story spun around that unfortunate murder, it complicates the entire murder investigation leading to more tragedies and lies to come out on the surface. Whether or not Police manage to identify the victim and catch the culprit is worth listening to by tuning into this Audible special.

If you are familiar with books like Gone Girl and fans of authors like Freida McFadden, Shari Lapena and such, then you might start to guess the criminal mind center to this fast-paced, crisp short-story. Still, it’s worth a listen if you are looking forward to an addictive bingeworthy audiobook for the weekend.
