An iconic building, a landmark location, mysterious wealthy residents and few desperate temporary rentals. What can go wrong??!! Perhaps nothing or maybe everything.
Jules, a young woman in New York city is down and out on her luck. She has lost her mediocre job in addition to a subpar boyfriend literally in the span of a day. Such unexpected and unfortunate coincidence drives Jules to her best friend’s couch.
But this is not the first time Chloe has rescued Jules neither it will be the last. They have seen enough tragedy chasing Jules while comprehending the mysterious disappearance of her older sister- Jane followed by her parents’ sudden demise.
But Jules wants to start afresh owing to her financial difficulties rather than perpetually crashing on her friend’s couch. So, it’s no wonder then that she accepts a too-good-to-be-true offer of becoming an apartment sitter at Bartholomew. The building itself is infamous for various accidents, mishaps and disappearances over its centennial existence. There are various secrets hiding behind its vintage façade as Jules realizes soon enough.
Once she moves in that apartment then the rest of the story takes wraps up in the span of five days. As expected, she is immediately impressed and charmed by her new accommodation. Although living temporarily, she decides to make the apartment her home in the best possible ways. She is obviously irritated by the rules and behavior of her well-known neighbors. Still, she decides to continue living there because of her precarious financial condition.
However, everything changes all at once when she faces the disgusting reality behind the charming façade. She soon realizes that there are far more sinister things taking place in Bartholomew for which the temporary apartment rentals act as a temptation to trap unsuspecting individuals. It’s heartbreaking to witness Jules going through all the hardships and facing lifelong trauma in the process.
Does she become successful in saving all her friends? Does she bring to light all the dark forces lurking behind the sunny interiors of Bartholomew? Are all the perpetrators brought to justice? To get answers to all these and more questions, I suggest you to add this book in your TBR. Like me, I’m sure that you’ll read it in one go. It’s absolutely phenomenon and worth all your time.
